House Washing
House washing is the art of cleaning siding, soffit, fascia, gutter exterior, and, light window wash.
The Approach & Technique
As for the approach, all house washes begin with a thorough and detailed inspection. We walk the property noting structural issues, areas of concern, electrical problems, drainage, potential oxidation, and anything else that may stand out. Next we come up with a game plan. We create a mental road map of exactly how the wash should be done. Formulating a plan of action is the best way to ensure a safe and efficient wash.
The technique is called soft wash. This is the art of applying the right ratio of cleaning solution along with the right amount of water pressure. Why is this important? High pressure on a house can cause damage. Soft wash is a low pressure application of both cleaning solution and rinse water that protects your home.
What is not included in the basic house wash is oxidation removal. Often it happens, especially on the sunny side of the house, that oxidation can develop on the siding and gutters. Oxidation reveals itself in the form a white chalky substance on siding and dark areas or vertical “tiger” stripes on gutters. Oxidation removal requires a different chemical application, may require a second visit, and, adds to the cost. Many people choose not to remove oxidation. And, depending on the amount of oxidation JDPW may opt not to take this on as it technically falls under a restoration service, not a cleaning service. JDPW does carry the oxidation removal chemical on the trailer just in case.
The wash area must be clear of obstacles, furniture, debris, dog droppings, hanging decorations, and anything else that may hinder a smooth wash experience. The easier it is for us to get around the property the better your wash will be. We do not move furniture unless some type of pre-arranged agreement has been made.
