Brick pavers can develop dirt, organic growth, algae, and discoloration over time. This project involved cleaning paver surfaces at a property in the Cliffs at Walnut Cove community.

The Condition

These pavers were covered with black mold and snow. Really dirty!

Cleaning the Pavers

To clean these I applied a solution that would kill the mold and loosen the grime. I then used a surface cleaner because the mold was so deep it need a thorough cleaning.

The Finished Result

As seen above te pavers were brought back to a fresh appearance.

Preserving Existing Hardscapes

Regular cleaning, before the pavers get as bad as these were, is the best approach. The reason is if the pavers accumulate too much mold and grime then the methods to remove that stuff is more aggressive. More aggressive techniques can remove the bonding materials in between leading to a secondary project of filling the seams.
